Diocese of Buffalo recommends closures in South Tier

Buffalo, New York (WBEN) – The list of recommended church closures reached 40 following Tuesday evening’s meeting of the South West Level Vicariate.

The latest recommendations are described below:

-St. Anthony in Fredonia
-St. Joseph in Fredonia
-St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Dunkirk
-Blessed Marie-Angèle in Dunkirk
-Our Lady of Loreto in Falconer
-St. Marie in Cattaraugus
-Holy Spirit at North Collins
-Our Lady of Mount Carmel at Silver Creek to close the St. Rose of Lima site
-St. James in Jamestown closes Our Lady of Victory site
-Sacré-Cœur of Lakewood closes the Panama site
-Holy Apostles of Jamestown closes St. John location
-Christ Our Hope in Clymer closes Sherman location
-St. Dominic in Westfield closes Brocton site

Parishes recommended for closure have until July 15 to make a counter-proposal.

Two more meetings will take place this week, including Wednesday evening in Genesee and Wyoming counties, and Thursday in southern Erie.
