Man arrested after allegedly stealing car from person who tried to give him money, police said

SAN ANTONIO – A man was arrested after allegedly attacking a person who tried to give him money and stealing his car, according to San Antonio police.

The incident occurred Friday evening in the 1400 block of Zarzamora.

A man told police he stopped his vehicle to give some money to a beggar and was attacked and his vehicle was stolen, officials said.

Officers found the vehicle while the suspect was still driving it. During the chase, the suspect collided with a SAPD patrol car, according to San Antonio police.

There were two officers in the patrol car, but no injuries were reported.

The suspect was arrested for robbery, evading arrest and aggravated assault on a public officer.

The investigation is ongoing.
