Man identified in house explosion in Lake Zurich

LAKE ZURICH, Illinois – The man killed in a house explosion in Lake Zurich, Illinois, on Tuesday has been identified, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office (LCCO).

LCCO officials have identified the deceased as 77-year-old Timothy Toczylowski, the resident of the exploded home.


On Wednesday, the LCCO conducted an autopsy, the results of which showed that the deceased had injuries consistent with inhalation of combustion products, but toxicology tests – including a test for carbon monoxide – are pending.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office fire investigator, the Lake Zurich Fire Protection District and the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office.
