Convicted rapist caught having sex with child in car in Lexington | Crime

During the investigation, police discovered that Gobble had recently met the girl through social media.

Gobble was charged with rape of a child under 15, sexual abuse of a child and sexual battery of a child using an electronic device.

According to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, Gobble was convicted of first-degree rape in 2009 and served 14 years in prison before being released on parole last October.

Gobble was being held in the Davidson County Jail without bail and was scheduled to appear in court on July 8.

The investigation is ongoing. Investigators are also in contact with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction in this case.
