MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Today is a First Alert Weather Day. We’ll start the day with sunshine and warm temperatures. Lows this morning will be between 65 and 70 degrees in many places. There will also be some humidity today.

What’s next …

A warm front will move through from the south later today. This front will trigger the development of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the thunderstorms could be strong or severe and include large hail, damaging winds, and even a tornado or two.

First Alert meteorologists will be closely monitoring the weather this afternoon and will provide severe weather warnings.

The warm front will be followed by a cold front that will move through overnight. It will not move until after midnight or tomorrow morning. Due to the timing of the front and cooler temperatures overnight, we do not expect any severe thunderstorms after midnight.

Looking ahead…

As soon as the cold front has passed, high pressure will gain the upper hand. This will make the weather calmer until the end of the week. Lots of sunshine is expected on Thursday, Friday and into the coming weekend. Maximum temperatures will mostly be around 21 degrees.
