Police investigate murder on Saturday evening

Birmingham police said a woman was detained Saturday after she shot her alleged boyfriend. The man died at the scene and police are still investigating what led to his death. Police said the shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m. near Richard Arrington, Jr. Boulevard and Vanderbilt Road. BPD officers believe the woman shot her boyfriend and she may have even called 911 to report the shooting. She even stayed at the scene until police arrived. When police arrived, they found the man lying in the grass. The woman was taken to BPD headquarters where they plan to ask her more questions about what happened. “The 3500 block of RAJ Boulevard is an industrial area,” Officer Truman Fitzgerald said. “We’re just trying to figure out how the couple got here, whether the incident happened inside the car or outside the car. When police arrived on scene, they found the man lying in the grass. The woman was taken to BPD headquarters where they plan to ask her further questions about the events of the shooting.
