A man believed to be under the influence of marijuana was arrested following a collision in Vallejo after he pulled out a firearm and attempted to leave the scene.

According to police, 23-year-old Nathan Kennedy was stopped by bystanders as he attempted to leave the scene of an accident on the afternoon of May 25 near Maple Avenue and Webb Street.

Officers arrested Kennedy and said there was video evidence showing he was carrying a firearm. Witnesses handed over Kennedy’s gun, which was loaded.

According to police, Kennedy showed signs of marijuana influence. Police say Kennedy was responsible for the crash because he was impaired when he made an unsafe turning maneuver, officials said.

The other vehicle involved in the accident had two people on board. Both were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Kennedy was also taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation before being arrested on suspicion of several serious crimes, including carrying a loaded firearm without registration as the owner, hit-and-run causing death or injury, driving under the influence of alcohol causing serious bodily harm, carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and manufacturing or selling high-capacity magazines. He was booked into the Solano County Jail and bail was set at $25,000 for each charge.
