Attack on Opa Restaurant in Providence, Rhode Island – NECN

A woman was arrested following a brutal attack in Providence, Rhode Island.

Providence police told Boston affiliate NBC10 WJAR that officers were called to the rear parking lot of Opa Restaurant at around 2:08 a.m. Saturday morning and found an disoriented man with a bleeding head.

Surveillance video from the restaurant on Atwells Ave. in Providence’s Federal Hill neighborhood shows a woman – later identified as Ashley Soto Morales – arguing with the victim as he attempted to back out of a parking space. Two unidentified men then began hitting the victim in the head, at which point Morales allegedly struck the victim in the head with her high heel. She then allegedly struck him in the face with a concrete brick.

Witnesses were able to identify Morales and she was arrested nearby, according to WJAR. Police did not immediately disclose what charges were filed against her.

The victim, who lost consciousness and suffered injuries to his head and face, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment, WJAR reports.

No further details about the incident have been released. The investigation is ongoing.
