Severe weather warning: Dangerous storms possible on Sunday

Some storm waves on Sunday could bring damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes

WHAT EXACTLY ARE YOU TRACKING AND WHAT ARE WE EXPECTING? YES, LAUREN, TOMORROW IS GOING TO BE A VERY ACTIVE DAY. WE’VE GOT A HILLY DRIVE AHEAD. I KNOW THERE WAS A LOT OF ACTIVITY OUTSIDE AT THE GAZEBO FESTIVAL AND WE HAVE TO CONSIDER THE WEATHER HERE WHEN IT COMES TO POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS STORMS. AND WE ARE TRACKING THOSE. WE’LL SHOW YOU THAT IN A SHORT TIME. BUT THE DOPPLER RADAR AROUND THE CITY IS MOSTLY CALM. BUT THERE IS A SHOWER IN BULLITT COUNTY, ANOTHER ONE DIRECTLY OVER LEBANON. SO WE’RE WATCHING SOME OF THESE SHOWERS, A FEW RUMBLE OF THUNDER, BUT NOTHING IMPRESSIVE. WE’RE NOT EXPECTING ANYTHING HEAVY TODAY, BUT LOOK TO THE WEST. WE HAVE A LOW PRESSURE AREA ALONG THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS, AND SOME STORMS DEVELOPING SOUTH OF IT. SO THAT LOW PRESSURE AREA IS GOING TO TAKE SOME ENERGY, SOME WIND ENERGY. ALSO A COLD FRONT IS GOING TO APPROACH. IT’S ASSOCIATED WITH A LOT OF MOISTURE. AND AS IT APPROACHES US, THERE’S A VERY WARM, UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE IN OUR AREA. AND THAT’S WHAT’S GOING TO BRING US THESE STORMS THAT WILL CONTINUE TOMORROW. BUT IN THE EYE, WE’RE JUST FIGHTING SOME CLOUDS OUTSIDE. WE’LL SEE A MIX OF CLOUDS AND SUNSHINE FOR THE NEXT 12 HOURS AND THEN IT’LL CLEAR UP IN THE NIGHT. SO WE CAN EXPECT A REALLY NICE NIGHT TODAY. MILD TEMPERATURES OF ABOVE 180°C TO ALMOST 21°C FOR THESE LOW TEMPERATURES. BUT HERE’S THE FUTURE FOR SUNDAY, IF YOU HAVE PLANS TOMORROW, MAYBE A PROPER RUN TO CHURCH. SUNDAY MORNING IT’S PRETTY NICE. JUST CLOUDS REMAIN ALL DAY. LOOKS LIKE WE’LL HAVE TWO ROUNDS OF STORMS ON SUNDAY. THE FIRST AROUND NOON INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON. AND THEN NOTE THIS FUTURECAST, WHICH SHOWS THESE STRONG TO POTENTIALLY SEVERE STORMS TOMORROW INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON. WHEN THAT PLAYS OUT, WE’LL HAVE A BREAK AROUND DINNER, SEVERAL HOURS OF DRY WEATHER, MAYBE EVEN SOME SUNSHINE, WHICH IS BAD NEWS BECAUSE THE MORE SUNSHINE THERE IS, THE MORE UNSTABLE THE ATMOSPHERE BECOMES. AND THAT’S GOING TO IMPACT THE SECOND ROUND OF STORMS THAT’S GOING TO MOVE THROUGH BETWEEN 10 PM AND 3 AM EVEN MORE. LOOK AT THIS LINE. IT’S SLIDING RIGHT THROUGH THE METRO FROM SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY AROUND MIDNIGHT. THEN IT WILL SLIDE SOUTH AND BE PUSHED OUT FROM HERE. SO TOMORROW IS A SEVERE WEATHER WARNING. THAT’S THE RESULT. THE FIRST ROUND ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON BETWEEN NOON AND FOUR WILL BE SECOND STORM CHANCES. SOME OF THEM COULD BE SEVERE, PROBABLY NOT EVERYWHERE. SEVERE WEATHER. THE SECOND ROUND SEEMS TO BE THE MOST DANGEROUS. WE COULD HAVE WINDS OF OVER 70 MPH WHEN THAT STORM LINE MOVES THROUGH, SO STORM DAMAGE, HAIL AND POSSIBLY TORNADOES WILL BE THE BIGGEST CONCERN, ESPECIALLY
