Mike Elko, Texas Aggies Football HC, previews 2024 season in Houston

Texas A&M’s 2024 season will be the first for new head coach Mike Elko. He’s already had a very productive offseason after landing nearly 30 players from the transfer portal, and his recruiting success with the 2025 cycle speaks for itself. In what we in the media call “talk season,” Elko continued to make the rounds to various A&M clubs this spring/summer.

On Thursday, Elko continued his Rotary Club Tour at the Houston A&M Club for a closer look at the 2024 campaign. Throughout the month, the first-year head coach was clear and concise in conveying to fans and alumni from Aggie the message that the program is truly thriving after a very successful offseason.

Before Texas A&M’s Aug. 31 kickoff against Notre Dame, Elko noted that despite the accomplishments since he took office in November, much work remains to be done with less than 100 days until the start of his inaugural season. Once again, here’s everything Mike Elko had to say during his performance at Houston A&M.

Yes, even college football athletes can become slightly addicted to video games.

As schools capitalized on money from television and other projects, the prize pool grew. One source was video games. EA’s popular college football titles generated about $80 million in revenue from two million units sold, Joel Linzner, head of EA Sports, said in court.

“In all honesty, because I’ve been through this before, you can’t imagine how much the release of a hot new video game can impact a football season.”

“I don’t think I’ll be spending a lot of time on the sticks this summer, but with this game coming back and our kids being so involved, I can imagine there’s a lot of excitement for this game. … It’s great to see this game come back. It’s great to see our players enjoying it.
