Verstappen learns his fate after Monaco race control launches an investigation

Max Verstappen received a warning from the Monaco Grand Prix stewards following an investigation into a practice incident.

In the closing stages of FP3, Verstappen was on a fast lap but had to abort it at the exit of the swimming pool after getting caught in traffic, which included his teammate Sergio Perez.

Red Bull asked him to see the chequered flag, but with 20 seconds to go, Verstappen drove far to the left on the pit lane and thus went far off the racing line.

He slowed the speed down to 20 km/h – 12.4 miles per hour.

While the race directors classified Verstappen’s behaviour as “harmless” and did not constitute an obstruction to other drivers, they concluded that he drove “unnecessarily slowly” on the start and finish straight and that this constituted a violation of Article 33.4 of the Sporting Regulations.

He received a warning for this.

In the other investigation after FP3, Lando Norris received a reprimand following an incident with George Russell at the exit of the tunnel.
