New Haven man sentenced to 21 years in prison for sexually abusing two children

NEW HAVEN – A local man who sexually abused two children under the age of 10 has been sentenced to 21 years in prison, authorities said.

The verdict against 69-year-old Carlos Gomez was announced Friday in Superior Court by Judge Eliot D. Prescott, who also ordered Gomez to serve a 10-year suspended prison sentence for sex offenses.

The victims and their families were present and spoke at the verdict, officials said.

According to officials, evidence presented at trial showed that Gomez sexually abused two children in New Haven between 2007 and 2012.
