The Orioles’ game against the Cardinals on Tuesday was suspended in the sixth inning

ST. LOUIS – The Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals suspended their game Tuesday night after a rainstorm hit Busch Stadium before the bottom of the sixth inning. They plan to resume the contest, which ended 1-1 when the ground crew rolled out the tarp, on Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. and play their series finale 30 minutes later.

Baltimore tied the score on an RBI double by Jorge Mateo early in the fifth, tying the score just in time for the game to be considered official. Kyle Bradish completed five innings and was on his way back to the mound for the sixth when the game was officially postponed at 9:09 p.m. A thunderstorm broke out a few minutes later and was followed by persistent rain for about an hour and a half before the Cardinals announced that the game would be suspended. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for the St. Louis area throughout the evening.

The Orioles (29-16) struggled to beat Cardinals starter Lance Lynn, managing just two hits in six innings against the veteran right-hander. Bradish was on pace to match him, with the only run against him coming on an RBI double by Nolan Gorman in the second inning. Bradish needed just 74 pitches to get through five innings, but he has yet to throw a pitch until the sixth inning in his first four starts early in the year after returning from a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
