The arrest record indicates Abdullahi is an “unhoused” man in Portland.

Abdullahi was booked into the Cumberland County Jail, where his bond was set at $500.

According to the Maine Penal Code, a person is guilty of visual sexual aggression against a child if that person—18 years of age or older—exhibits his or her genitals to a child under 14 years of age, a Class D felony.

If a person commits visual sexual aggression against a child under 12 years of age, the offense is upgraded to a Class C felony.

Also included in the criminal law is the visual recording or monitoring of a child’s genital areas in circumstances “where a reasonable person would believe that he or she would be safe from such monitoring.”

As of Monday afternoon, Abdullahi was still incarcerated at the Cumberland County Correctional Facility.

Maine Wire has reached out to Portland police for more information about where the alleged incident occurred and whether Abdullahi was arrested at one of the city’s homeless shelters.
