ROCHESTER, Minn. – A Rochester man who got too close to a moving boxcar died after being struck by a train Saturday night, police said.

According to Rochester police, the train hit the man near the intersection of Civic Center Drive Northwest and First Avenue Northwest around 10:45 p.m.

He was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital on Saint Mary’s Campus, where he died, police said.

He has not been publicly identified, but police said he is 23 years old.

According to police, after the train crash, a suspected impaired driver drove through the cordoned off scene and crashed into the side of a nearby residential building, but no one was injured. The driver was arrested.
