Sentenced for sex offences: Two convicts receive life sentences for sex offences | News from Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Of the 12 accused convicted of sexual offences this year, two were sentenced to life imprisonment. The Women Safety Wing officials said in a press release that as per the Supreme Court guidelines, a special task force has been set up to monitor the sexual offences cases. Giving details of the cases that resulted in conviction, the officials said that one person was sentenced to more than 25 years imprisonment, five persons to 20 years, one person to 5 years and three persons to community service. tnn

A 43-year-old man from Diva was sentenced to five years in prison under the Pocso Act for sexually abusing a three-year-old girl in 2022. Judge DS Deshmukh convicted him based on evidence provided by the victim’s parents. The man was also fined Rs 10,000, with the District Legal Services Authority recommending additional compensation.

Train driver and security officer sentenced after worst train crash in Spain in decades

A Spanish train driver and former transport safety chief have been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for a train crash in 2013 that killed 79 people. The accident occurred when a high-speed train derailed near Santiago de Compostela. Both the defendants and the companies involved must pay 25 million euros in compensation to the families of the victims.
