Shooting at NorthPark Mall: 16-year-old arrested

Davenport police said they arrested a teenager in connection with a shooting Monday afternoon at NorthPark Mall that left the teenager and another person injured.

DAVENPORT, Iowa – Davenport police said they arrested a teenager in connection with a shooting Monday afternoon at NorthPark Mall that left the teen and another person injured.

The shooting sent mall-goers running for their lives just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 22. According to police, the teenager and a second person shot at each other inside the mall.

The 16-year-old Rock Island boy was taken to a local hospital in a private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries, a police news release said.

The second person also suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.

The teenager was arrested and charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and possession/control of a firearm/assault weapon by a felon.

After the shooting, NorthPark Mall was closed for the rest of the day. It will reopen on Tuesday with normal hours.
