Carlisle man arrested for attempted murder after stabbing

On the morning of July 20, 2024, a serious stabbing incident occurred in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, resulting in the arrest of a local man. At approximately 9:16 a.m., Carlisle Police responded to a call from the 400 block of North Hanover Street, where they found a victim with severe facial and neck injuries. Bystanders rendered aid as officers arrived, and emergency services were immediately called to the scene.

The suspect, identified as 62-year-old Henry Gumby, was found nearby and taken into custody without incident. Gumby is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. Gumby is described as a black male with gray hair and brown eyes, 5’6″ tall and weighing approximately 200 pounds. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The circumstances leading to the stabbing are still being investigated by local authorities. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
