Police are now asking residents to help identify the person who was seen behind the store in the 600 block of East 26th Street immediately before the fire on the morning of July 20.

TPD released a statement on Saturday confirming that it would begin staffing special patrol units across the city.

“The safety of Tacoma residents and businesses is of utmost importance to the Tacoma Police Department. Patrols are focused on targeting those involved in the recent series of arsons that damaged property and put lives at risk, as well as preventing further incidents,” police officials said.

Anyone with information that could lead to the identification of the person(s) responsible for these fires is asked to contact Tacoma Police or leave a tip with Crime Stoppers through the P3tips app or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS.

This fire occurred a few days after a series of intentionally set fires broke out throughout Pierce County, with six separate fires breaking out just hours apart.
