9th grade girl raped in moving car and blackmailed with video (Madhya Pradesh)

Gwalior:

A Class 9 student was allegedly abducted and raped in a moving car in Gwalior district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh last month, police said. According to authorities, the incident took place on the Gwalior-Shivpuri national highway in the Mohna police station area last month.

When the family members came to know about the matter, they went to the police station and filed a complaint. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Mohana police station under relevant sections of the Rape Act and POCSO Act, Gwalior ASP Niranjan Sharma told ANI on Friday.

“A police team has been formed to nab the accused. The team has nabbed the two accused, the rapist and his accomplice who shot the video. Both have been interrogated. The vehicle used in the incident is also seized and a team has been sent to nab the third accomplice. The accused are aged between 18 and 20 years,” Sharma said.

The accused also recorded a video of the assault and shared it on social media. When the minor girl told her family about the incident, they approached the police and filed a complaint, Niranjan Sharma, a junior doctor in Gwalior, told ANI.

ASP Sharma further said that the 13-year-old girl, a student of Class 9, had lodged a complaint at Mohna police station. She said she had befriended a youth from Chinour about a year ago, who later introduced her to his friends. They remained in touch through chat, ASP Sharma told ANI.

On June 1, the accused came with his two friends in the car and called the girl to meet. After that, they forced her to get into the car and took her away, the official said.

“One of the youths raped her in the back seat of the car. One youth was driving the car and the other was sitting on the seat next to the driver and filming the incident. After committing the crime, the accused repeatedly tried to blackmail the girl using the video. The accused also threatened to kill her but when the girl did not listen to him, the accused made his video viral,” added ASP Sharma.

Further investigations into the matter are ongoing, he added.
