Man arrested after Connecticut stabbing that left victim in critical condition

Police arrested a man over the weekend in connection with a stabbing that left a man hospitalized in critical condition.

According to Lt. Ryan Riley of the West Hartford Police Department, officers began their investigation shortly after 11:50 p.m. Saturday when a stabbing victim was transported to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle.

Officers rushing to the hospital learned the man had suffered life-threatening injuries in a stabbing in the area of ​​154 Reed Avenue in West Hartford, Riley said.

According to Riley, the investigation was conducted by patrol officers, detectives and members of the Community Support Unit. After interviews and evidence, authorities were able to identify a possible suspect.

Riley said investigators “worked tirelessly” before arresting Lewis Martinez-Conde, 33, of West Hartford, shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday. He is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree menacing and second-degree reckless endangerment.

According to Riley, West Hartford police were assisted in their investigation by police departments in Hartford, Cromwell and East Hartford.

Martinez-Conde was being held on $1 million bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Hartford Superior Court on Monday.
