Oswego County today: State police investigate accident in Mexico, NY

OSWEGO COUNTY – On July 7, 2024, at approximately 10:15 a.m., State Police members responded to a personal injury crash on State Route 3 in the Town of Mexico involving an Amish Buggy and a Kia Sedona.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a gray 2014 Kia ​​Sedona, operated by Charles F. Barnes66 year old, of Oswego, NY, was traveling north on State Route 3 in the town of Mexico and attempted to pass the Amish buggy that was traveling on the east shoulder. Barnes tried to get back into the lane after noticing oncoming traffic and crashed into the rear of the buggy.

The occupants of the Amish buggy were Ben Miller17 years old, from Mexico, NY, and Emma Miller21 years old, from Mexico, NY, both of whom were taken to Upstate Hospital in critical condition.

Barnes was taken to Oswego Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
