IDENTIFIED: Man found dead in Reedley orchard sparks investigation | YourCentralValley.com

REEDLEY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead in a Reedley orchard in June, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officials said they received a call about a possibly injured man near the intersection of Buttonwillow and Springfield Avenue in Reedley just before 8 p.m. on June 30. Reedley Police and EMS officers were the first to arrive in the area.


Sheriff’s officials said they found a man on the ground in an orchard. Upon closer inspection, it was determined he was dead.

The man was examined and investigators stated that he had injuries consistent with a homicide. Since this was a county location, investigators from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and began their investigation. The victim was later identified as 46-year-old Santos Rios Ventura.
