Goal drought continues despite loss to Chicago

The Dash’s offensive problems – they haven’t scored since May 24 – continued in a 1-0 loss at Chicago on Saturday.

Chicago forward Mallory Swanson, who will play for the United States at the Paris Olympics, scored in added time late in the first half as the two teams played their final match before the NWSL’s Olympic break.

The Dash had an early chance, but Diana Ordonez couldn’t handle a pass in front of the Chicago goal from Yuki Nagasato.

Chicago goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher, an American Olympic champion, made six saves for the shutout. Houston’s Jane Campell, who will be an alternate for the U.S. team in Paris, made three saves, including one on an Ordonez header in the 55th minute and another 12 minutes later.

Houston’s last chance to equalize came in the 88th minute when Jyllissa Harris headed just wide of the post.

The Dash are on leave until July 28, when they will face Tigres UANL in the NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup.
