French directors questioned by police after rape and assault allegations against actress Judith Godrèche

French directors Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon were questioned by police over allegations of sexual abuse by actress Judith Godrèche, several European media outlets, including the BBC, reported.

Earlier this year, Godrèche accused Jacquot of rape and Doillon of sexual assault, both incidents allegedly taking place when she was still a minor. Both men were questioned on Monday morning at the Regional Directorate of Judicial Police (DRPJ) in Paris, AFP reported.

The filmmakers deny the attacks, which allegedly took place more than 30 years ago. No charges have been filed so far.

Godrèche, 51, filed a lawsuit against Jacquot, now 77, in January, accusing him of raping her when she was 14 and exerting “influence” over her during a years-long relationship. She accused Doillon of assault on the set of one of his films.

Godrèche rose to fame in France through two Jacquot films: The Beggars (1987) and The Disenchanted (1990). She also played the lead role in Jacques Dillion’s 1989 film The 15-Year-Old Girl.
