No, Tim Allen did not die in a car accident

Buzz Lightyear, Santa Claus or The Tool Man – however you know him, actor Tim Allen has had a long Hollywood career. But did it come to a tragic end?

According to a Facebook post from June 24, “(Two) hours earlier. Actor and comedian Tim Allen … died suddenly in hospital, confirmed as …” The last sentence was not finished, the post includes a photo of Allen, a car crash, and the headline “Breaking News. Fatal Car Crash.” The link in the post does not lead to an article, but instead triggers a security warning in the browser.

PolitiFact found no evidence or credible reports that Allen had recently been in a car accident or died.

The death of the Home Improvement star would have made headlines, but there are no such stories. No date of death is listed on his Wikipedia and IMDb pages.

Although he has not posted anything on his social media accounts since June 18, Allen has an event scheduled for June 29 at the Akron Civic Theater in Akron, Ohio, which had not been canceled as of this writing.

This is not the first time that viral claims about Allen’s death have spread online; this happened back in 2020.

We consider the claim that Allen died in a car accident to be false.
