Perry Township police involved in chase involving ride-on lawnmower

A man was arrested in Stark County after leading Perry Township police on a chase on a riding lawn mower, police said.

On Wednesday morning, Perry Township police initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Southway Street and Genoa Avenue that led to a chase involving a man on a riding lawn mower, police said.

The pursuit was called off near Hazelbrook Street, police said.

The man was later arrested and charged with:

• Heavy attack
• Failure to obey an order or signal of an officer, a third degree crime
• Resisting arrest
• Obstruction of official business
• Failure to obey an order or signal of an officer, a misdemeanor of the first degree
• Trespassing
• Driving despite driving ban
• Driving a vehicle at low speed/obstructing traffic

The man was taken to the Stark County Jail, police said.
