Suspect fleeing police in Irmo

IRMO, SC – A large police presence was deployed in an Irmo neighborhood Thursday afternoon and into the evening.

According to a Richland County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, law enforcement was searching for a suspect who they now say poses no threat to the community in the Farming Creek Road area.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Lexington Sheriff’s Department and Irmo Police Department were involved in the search. At one point, a SLED helicopter was in the air and a tracking dog was sent to the scene.

Police have not yet said why they are looking for the man or whether charges will be filed.
