2 dead, 12 in hospital in Pittstown accident on Sunday

PITTSTOWN, NY (NEWS10) — The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office reported a three-car crash in Pittstown on Sunday. The crash occurred near the Tomhannock Reservoir and caused that section of Route 7 to be closed for some time.

Officials said there were a total of 14 people in the three cars. The accident occurred when a car traveling westbound on Route 7 crossed into oncoming traffic, struck the first car and collided head-on with the second car.

Two of those involved in the accident were pronounced dead at the scene. The other twelve people involved in the accident were taken to Albany Medical Center with injuries.
