1 dead after collision with semi-trailer on I-75 northbound

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A person was struck by a semi-trailer on northbound Interstate 75 early Tuesday morning, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The accident occurred around 3 a.m. just past the Butler County Rest Area 8-35 near mile marker 28.

According to OSHP, a vehicle was parked in the middle lane of the highway and two people were standing outside the car. The State Highway Patrol said the driver of a semi-truck struck one of the people and the car.

The person hit died, OSHP said.

According to the State Highway Patrol, a second person was found north of the crash scene and taken to the hospital. The OSHP said the person did not appear to be injured.

Our on-site team saw the semi-trailer and another car on the highway early Tuesday morning.

Our team on the scene reported that a semi-trailer truck and another car were involved in the accident.

The right three lanes of the highway were closed for more than three hours because of the accident, OSHP said.

It is unclear why the car stopped in the middle of the highway, OSHP said.

According to OSHP, the driver who hit the man has stopped and is speaking with highway patrol.
