Two men “raped drunk 19-year-old teenager” in a cemetery when she was separated from her friends during a night out, court heard

A court heard a case in which two men allegedly sexually harassed and raped a drunken teenager in a cemetery after the girl had been separated from her friends.

The 19-year-old was out and about in Helston, Cornwall, at night in July last year when she was separated from her friends.

Prosecutor Jason Beal said the teenager then collided with 40-year-old Calvin Rosevear and Joe Skewes, also 40. Less than 30 minutes later, she was alone with them in the cemetery.

Mr Beal said the victim was “drunk and vulnerable and was taken advantage of by these two men.”

“In short, she did not consent to what happened.”

At Truro Crown Court in Cornwall, a jury heard a case in which two men allegedly sexually assaulted and raped a drunken teenager in a cemetery after the girl was separated from her friends during a night-time outing in Helston, Cornwall, in July last year (symbolic image).

Mr Beal said Rosevear and Skewes not only claimed that she had consented, but that she had been a “willing and enthusiastic participant”.

The jury at Truro Crown Court heard that Skewes stared at her breasts and told her she was fit.

Rosevear then asked her if she had had a threesome – which the victim denied – and Skewes pulled one of her breasts out of her top.

The two men sexually assaulted her in the dark churchyard after removing her underwear – and the incident only ended when a couple walked through the yard and confronted them.

Skewes told the couple “she wanted it,” and Rosevear said, “She was ready for it.”

When they were later arrested, Rosevear told police he “just touched her breasts” and said she was “happy and flirtatious” and that she was “up for a bit of fun.”

Skewes said he couldn’t believe it when Rosevear asked her if she wanted a threesome and she said “yes” and explained the threesome was consensual.

Rosevear, from Mullion, Cornwall, denies rape and sexual assault and Skewes, from Helston, denies three counts of sexual assault and one count of penetrative assault.

Her trial will continue and is expected to last throughout the week.
