Above-average temperatures on Friday in the Hudson Valley ahead of sudden thunderstorms in the afternoon

Meteorologist Addison Green of News 12’s Storm Watch Team predicts sunny skies and mild temperatures in the Hudson Valley on Saturday and a mostly sunny Father’s Day.

A heat warning is in effect for the entire Hudson Valley until 8 p.m. Friday. Temperatures will be between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius.

An air quality warning is in effect for the entire Hudson Valley region until 11 p.m. Due to increased ozone levels, it will then be reissued for Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

– A cold front passes overnight and drives the humid air out of the region.

– Summer is officially here, but it’s been hot and humid almost all week.

– Temperatures will continue to be above average on Friday, but record temperatures are unlikely to be reached or broken.

– There is a risk of strong to severe storms across the region Friday afternoon. Any strong storm could bring damaging wind gusts.

– A cold front will slowly approach the area, increasing the chance of storms for Friday. This chance will persist both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

– The front will finally pass through on Monday, resulting in lower humidity from Monday to Tuesday.

– Next Wednesday, storms will break out again as another cold front approaches. But after that, there will be a few really nice days, with Friday looking to be the “nicest of the week.”
