MANILA, Philippines – The toll authority has been ordered to immediately suspend toll collection on the Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex) for 30 days.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. gave this directive to the Toll Regulatory Board while inaugurating the Cavitex C5 Link Sucat Interchange and presiding over the groundbreaking of the Cavitex-Calax Interconnection and Cavitex C5 Link Segment 3B on Friday.

“The PRA, the Philippine Reclamation Authority, as operator of the Cavitex, has proposed to suspend the collection of tolls for all types of vehicles passing through the Manila-Cavite Expressway in Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Bacoor and Kawit for 30 days. This way, we can make our new roads and expressways accessible to those who need this transportation system,” he said in a speech.

“We welcome this call and thank the PRA for its initiative to mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs on our motorists. I now call on the Toll Regulatory Board to ensure immediate implementation for the benefit of cyclists and the transport public,” he added.

Marcos thanked the public for their patience while work on the Cavitex expansion is underway.

“We, of course, thank the Filipino public for their patience, understanding and support as we worked to complete these major projects. As I always say, unity is at the heart of these endeavors and we have come this far because we worked together to build these structures,” he said.

According to Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation, most of the highway sections will be completed by 2025.
