Four men hospitalized after construction site accident

Four men were taken to hospital following an accident at a construction site in Edinburgh.

Shortly after 11am on Wednesday, emergency services were called to the scene of the accident on Rillbank Crescent near the Meadows.

Four ambulances, two special forces vehicles and a paramedic were sent to the scene of the accident; the police were also on site.

The four men were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has also been informed.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they were informed at 11.30am of reports that people were in distress at the site.

Two vehicles with special rope rescue equipment and a high-altitude rescue device were sent to the scene of the accident.

“Four injured people were rescued and placed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service,” the spokesman added.

“The teams withdrew after ensuring that the area was secure.”

An HSE spokesman said: “We are aware of this incident and are investigating.”
