Fairground worker charged with sexually abusing polo player – Shaw Local

OREGON – An 18-year-old Woodridge man who worked for the fair during Polo Town & Country Days has been charged with sexual assault.

Ronald Peacock appeared in Ogle County Court Monday on charges that he sexually assaulted a woman after confronting her at her car at the Casey gas station in the early morning hours of June 16.

Assistant District Attorney Matthew Leisten said Peacock told the woman to take him to the store because she thought he was going to commit a burglary.

But, Leisten said, Peacock told her he didn’t want any money. She then ran out of the store and Peacock followed her, threw her into the street and committed the attack before another citizen screamed and Peacock fled, Leisten said.

Ogle County Public Defender William Gibbs was appointed Peacock’s attorney after Judge John Redington found Peacock to be indigent.

Gibbs requested that Peacock be released until his next court date because he is not a flight risk and has relatives in Peoria County he can stay with. Gibbs also said that Peacock’s photo was the only photo shown to the victim for identification purposes.

Leisten argued that Peacock should not be released. Redington agreed after deciding that there was sufficient evidence to proceed with the case in court.

Peacock was booked into the Ogle County Jail and his next court date is June 26 at 10 a.m.
