Who will get it, how to apply

The city of Atlanta has launched a new rebate program that could provide up to $2,000 to eligible residents. This new rebate program, called the Atlanta E-Bike Rebate Program, aims to reduce the cost of e-bikes for low-income families. The deadline to apply for the program is June 23.

How much discount could you get?

On Sunday, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) and the City of Atlanta launched the e-bike rebate program to provide affordable transportation options for low-income people. Residents who meet the requirements must submit an application by Sunday, June 23.

“Powered by a $1,000,000 investment from the City of Atlanta, this initiative aims to remove barriers to e-bike ownership, reduce transportation costs, and replace driving alone to work , to the grocery store, and to local parks and recreation centers,” the report said. the program’s website states.

Since the discount is limited, recipients will be selected by random drawing. The city has set aside $1 million for Atlanta’s e-bike rebate program.

About 75% of the discounts are reserved for people earning 80% or less of the Atlanta area median household income, or less than about $54,000 a year. The income threshold varies depending on the size of the household.

Eligible residents meeting the income threshold will receive a rebate of $1,500 for a standard e-bike and $2,000 for a cargo e-bike. Other eligible residents will receive $500 for a standard e-bike and $1,000 for a cargo e-bike.

Residents can benefit from the discount at participating retailers operating in the city.

Atlanta Electric Bike Rebate Program: Who Qualifies?

To qualify for the Atlanta e-bike rebate program, you must be a resident of the City of Atlanta and at least 18 years old. You can check your residency status by entering your address into the City of Atlanta Real Estate Map Viewer.

You will need to submit an online application. If your application is selected, you must provide documents proving your eligibility. Applications for the Atlanta e-bike rebate program are available at atlantaregional.org/ebikerebate.

Recipients will receive the rebate up front, meaning the rebate amount will be deducted from the cost of the bike when they purchase it at participating retailers. Up to 700 e-bikes are expected to be purchased through Atlanta’s e-bike rebate program.

Please note that the program is limited to one discount per resident. Recipients will have 90 days to purchase an e-bike from a participating e-bike retailer. Electric bikes purchased with rebate money are for personal use and must not be resold.

Atlanta’s e-bike rebate program is estimated to result in massive savings for beneficiaries. On average, a person spends more than $11,000 per year on transportation costs. The annual electricity cost to power an e-bike is less than $15. Additionally, as more people adopt electric vehicles, it will result in less traffic and cleaner air.
