Iconic Buffalo, New York bar destroyed in fire

The Old Pink, once voted one of the top 10 dive bars in America, was destroyed in a fire early Monday morning.

WIVB reported that the fire at the popular Allen Street bar in Buffalo was first reported around 5:45 a.m. Monday with flames and heavy smoke billowing from the bar.

Firefighters were forced to conduct a defensive attack.

The fire was largely contained by 7 a.m.

Firefighters confirmed that the building could not be saved.

An emergency demolition was ordered.

The Buffalo Rising website called the Old Pink “a legend and an institution.” Old dive bars like this are becoming fewer and fewer. One thing is certain: without The Pink, Allentown will never be quite the same.
