Gordon Ramsay “glad to be alive” after bicycle accident

Gordon Ramsay has revealed that he was recently involved in a cycling accident and admitted that he is “lucky to be alive”.

The chef spoke about the incident on Instagram over the weekend and showed the gruesome bruise on his upper body that he sustained while cycling in the USA.

“I want to share a very important message with all of you. You know how much I love cycling, triathlon and Iron Man etc. Unfortunately, during the week I had a really bad accident,” he began. “It really shook me. Honestly, I’m glad to be here.”

“The incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses and hospital that have taken care of me this week have been amazing.”

Ramsay then urged his followers to “wear a helmet,” adding: “I don’t care how short the ride is. I don’t care that these helmets cost money. But they are essential. Even with children, even on short rides, they have to wear a helmet.”

“Now I’m glad to be standing here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m getting through it somehow. But I can’t tell you how important it is to wear a helmet,” he continued, before wishing everyone a happy Father’s Day.

The chef reiterated the message in his comments, writing: “I’m fine and didn’t break any bones or sustain any major injuries, but I’m a few bruises and look like a purple potato.”

“I am grateful to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who took care of me and examined me, but I am most grateful for my helmet that saved my life. Happy Father’s Day and take care, Gx.”

Meanwhile, last year, Ramsay shared his reaction to NCT member Mark mentioning his name in the song “Golden Hour,” which was inspired by the chef’s response to an NCT fan’s post in 2018.
