Gordon Ramsay talks about his horrific bike accident and advocates for helmets after he escaped lucky

Multi-Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay has shared his experience of narrowly escaping a brutal cycling accident. The celebrity chef detailed the incident, which occurred while he was out cycling in Connecticut. He shared the news on his Instagram account and described the incident in a video, where he also showed the aftermath of the accident. Fortunately, he did not suffer any major injuries such as broken bones or torn ligaments, other than a few severe bruises.

Gordon Ramsay shared his experience of a serious bicycle accident in a video on Instagram.

The Kitchen Nightmares host shared the news of his cycling accident in a video on his official Instagram account. The video began with Gordon greeting his followers: “Hey guys, it’s Gordon here. I want to share a very important message with you all. You know how much I love cycling and triathlons and Ironman (races) etc and this week I unfortunately had a really bad accident that really shook me up and honestly I’m glad to be here.”

Recounting his treatment, the 57-year-old cook said he was treated at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut. He stressed the importance of wearing a helmet and urged people to wear helmets. “I don’t care how short the ride is. I don’t care… these helmets cost money, but they are essential. Even on a short ride, kids have to wear a helmet,” he said. The helmet played a crucial role in saving his life in the accident.

Ramsay expresses his gratitude: “I’m lucky to be here”

The restaurant owner expressed his gratitude that he did not suffer any major injuries, aside from a large bruise on his stomach, which he showed in the video. “Now I’m happy to be standing here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m somehow getting through it,” he said. According to the Guardian, the chef’s hands were visibly shaking in the video as he shared the information with his 17 million followers. He also said that the horrific bike accident had left him completely shaken. He reassured his fans about his health, captioning the video: “I’m fine and I haven’t broken any bones or suffered any major injuries, but I’m a bit bruised and I look like a purple potato.”

Fans expressed their concern and wished him a speedy recovery. One user wrote: “I’m relieved you’re alive. Please rest. Don’t do TV shows. The bruise is big. It must still be very painful. And your hands were still shaking. Take care.”
