First Alert Weather: Father’s Day followed by a scorching week of heat

ROCHESTER, NY — Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. It’s starting to be a bit chilly here this Sunday.

Temperatures on Sunday morning will start at around 10 degrees but will warm up to nearly 27 degrees in the afternoon. Sunday’s warmer weather will also be greeted with plenty of sunshine as skies continue to remain sunny. Sunday will be a great day for outdoor activities with dad!

The biggest weather phenomenon of the coming week, however, is the intense heat. Highs on Monday will reach the 90s before rising to the mid-90s on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The threat tracker remains green on Monday, as it won’t be as hot or feel as hot as the following three days.

Monday will see temperatures around 35 degrees and partly cloudy skies. As humidity increases, sudden showers or thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon. The same applies to Tuesday and Wednesday.

A yellow warning has been issued for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Not for severe thunderstorms, but for intense heat. Temperatures will reach the mid-90s on each of those days and feel like 100 degrees or more. The heat will continue through Friday, but only highs of 90 degrees are expected, with showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Maximum temperatures will remain above 30 degrees next weekend, with an improvement not expected until Monday next week.
