UTSA football player suspended after arrest for aggravated robbery

SAN ANTONIO – A football player at the University of Texas at San Antonio has been suspended after being arrested and charged with alleged aggravated robbery.

Nicholas Ryan Brown, listed on the UTSA football team’s roster as Nick Booker-Brown, was taken into custody Thursday evening, according to Bexar County jail records.

Brown, 23, was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on two counts of aggravated robbery stemming from an incident on Feb. 3. Both charges are considered first-degree felonies.

According to documents, bail was set at $75,000 for each count of aggravated robbery, for a total bail of $150,000.

According to records, Brown has since been released on bail from the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.

A UTSA athletics department spokesman said Brown has been suspended from the team “indefinitely” as a result of his arrest while the athletic department gathers more information.

Brown, a graduate of Westfield High School in Houston, transferred to UTSA from North Carolina State in 2022. This season, Brown, a defensive end, was named an All-Conference USA honorable mention player.

Brown appeared in all 13 games for the Roadrunners during the 2023 season and recorded 6.5 tackles for a loss. Brown also had a sack in UTSA’s bowl victory over Marshall, the program’s first-ever bowl win.
