Arizona officer dies of injuries after on-duty incident

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona – A Scottsdale police detective has died following an incident in the line of duty. According to the department.

On June 13, around 7:30 p.m., Scottsdale police received a call that one of their officers needed emergency assistance near the airport, said Scottsdale Deputy Police Chief Rich Slavin. said during a press conference.

The officer, identified as Detective Ryan So, was taken to a hospital where he died from injuries sustained in the line of duty, Slavin said.

So served nine years with the Scottsdale Police Department and ended his service as a member of the special forces unit, police said. He leaves behind his wife and three children.
