LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. – Firefighters in South Los Angeles had to fight off a man who attacked their fire truck as it was on its way to a car crash.

The bizarre incident occurred on June 7 near Central Avenue and Nadeau Street, about a half-mile from Fire Station 16. NBC Los Angeles reported.

“We were responding to a traffic accident when this guy came out of nowhere, jumped in front of the fire truck and started hitting it,” said firefighter and paramedic Andrew Chaing.

Chaing said his team had encountered the attacker before. A month or two ago, firefighters found him under the influence of narcotics and took him to a hospital.

The man was charged with assault with high probability against a police officer and assault against a firefighter in the execution of his duty. CBS Los Angeles.
