1 dead after motorcycle accident in Miami County

MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – Officials are on scene investigating after a motorcycle crash left one person dead and another injured.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that officers responded to a fatal motorcycle crash Wednesday evening that occurred near the intersection of S. Shiloh Road and Frederick-Garland Road.


A lieutenant with the sheriff’s office told 2 NEWS they received a call shortly after 4 p.m. about a motorcycle-car accident.

Preliminary investigation indicates the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on South Shiloh Road when he allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with a vehicle traveling eastbound on Frederick-Garland Road.

The motorcyclist, an 85-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to hospital for his injuries but is expected to recover.

Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to have been involved. The accident remains under investigation by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.
