Man dies after motorcycle accident in East Louisville, LMPD says

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – A man was killed in a car crash in the Avondale Melbourne Heights neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) responded to a 911 call for a crash in the 3700 block of Taylorsville Road near Furman Boulevard around 1 p.m.

Police said their preliminary investigation and witness statements revealed that a motorcyclist, driven by an adult male, was traveling eastbound on Taylorsville Road in the left lane off the Watterson Expressway. He was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when the driver struck the rear of a passenger vehicle driven by an adult female driver that was attempting to make a left turn.

According to LMPD, the impact caused the driver to lose control and be thrown from the motorcycle.

Emergency medical services arrived at the scene along with the Louisville Fire Department. Emergency medical services took the man to UofL Hospital, where he died shortly thereafter.

The LMPD Traffic Unit will conduct this investigation.
