Orion Group Holdings signs lease for East River headquarters

Orion Group Holdings will consolidate its Houston offices into a new headquarters in the East River development in 2024.

The Houston-based specialty construction company will occupy just over 63,500 square feet over three floors in Buildings 1 and 2 of East River, a development by Houston-based Midway on the banks of Buffalo Bayou, just north of downtown.

The first phase of East River, comprising 250,000 square feet of office space near Jensen and Clinton, opened last year and the first office tenants moved in in June. With the latest transaction, the office portion is 95% leased, according to Midway.

Like some other East River tenants, Orion Group Holdings has a history in the maritime industry. The company was founded 30 years ago as a marine construction company and now also offers concrete services for commercial construction projects such as office and industrial buildings.

“Alongside leading companies like Anton Paar USA, Suderman & Young and Port Houston establishing their headquarters here, (Orion Group’s) presence highlights the development’s appeal to leading companies and its emerging role as a hub for maritime-related industries,” Midway said. said President and CEO Brad Freels in a statement.

Travis Boone, CEO of Orion Group Holdings, said the new location will bring teams together under one roof in an environment that fosters growth and creativity.

“We are excited to announce the consolidation and relocation next year of our three Houston offices, including our headquarters, to the East River location, a vibrant community near downtown Houston that embodies our commitment to innovation, collaboration and excellence,” Boone said. “What makes this move even more special is that we will be moving into two buildings constructed by our own concrete segment. »

Orion Group will join tenants such as Suderman & Young, Impact Networking, Method Architecture and TEAL in the first phase. Restaurants, shops, services and entertainment venues are expected to open this fall, including the Houston Maritime Center + Museum and event space Le Tesserae by The Astorian.

Collin Grimes and Bill Boyer of CBRE represented Orion Group in the lease, while Amanda Nebel of Parkway represented East River.
