Costco recalls some Tillamook cheese slices due to possible plastic parts – Action News Jax

Costco is recalling 32-ounce two-packs of Tillamook Colby Jack and Tillamook Monterey Jack after reports surfaced of possible plastic being found in the items.

Costco announced the voluntary recall in a letter to customers last week. According to USA Today, the recall was due to “possibly small amounts of gray and black plastic” in some Tillamook cheese slices.

The recall affects 32-ounce two-packs of Tillamook Colby Jack and Monterey Jack cheese slices purchased between May 9 and May 31, KTLA reported. The best-before date is listed as October 22, 2024, USA Today reported.

It is not clear which product locations are affected by the recall, but it includes stores in the northwestern U.S., such as Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Montana and Idaho, USA Today reported.

“Out of an abundance of caution and as part of our commitment to the highest levels of product quality and safety, we are voluntarily taking action to remove this product from the market,” Costco said, according to KOIN.

“As part of standard food safety and quality assurance procedures, Tillamook has identified a very small amount of gray and black plastic pieces that may be present in a limited quantity of Monterey Jack cheese contained in the 32-ounce package of Tillamook Monterey Jack and Tillamook Colby Jack cheese slice,” Costco stated in a letter obtained by KTLA.

If you still have the product, it is recommended that you do not consume it and return it to your local Costco store, the news outlet reported. KOIN reported that you will receive a full refund.
