Delicious! Houston-area restaurant offers a tasty taste of French cuisine ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics

Houston is known for its cultural diversity, and its culinary landscape reflects this melting pot of cultures.

As KPRC 2 prepares to present the 2024 Paris Olympics, anchor Daniella Guzman stopped at a few French restaurants around the city to get a feel for the cultural foods Houstonians can enjoy.

Chef Phillipe is the owner of the casual yet authentic French restaurant, PS 21.

Chef Phillipe and Chef Jose Manuel Hernandez are friends, they worked together in a French restaurant in New York.

At PS 21, we delved deeper into the savory side of French cuisine.

We tried the classic croque monsieur, escargots and a few main dishes: “There is nothing more French than escargots and steak fries,” said Chef Phillipe.

A classic dish from the South of France, it was like having a tasty feast in my mouth. Seafood bouillabaisse is a seafood stew made with mussels, fish, shrimp, potatoes and a warm broth. “The Marseille fishermen prepared this dish themselves. They didn’t always clean the fish from the inside, so it was very tasty and by that I mean it had a strong fishy taste,” said Phillipe.

The popular raclette to share was then released. A charcuterie board with cold cuts, salad and potatoes with gooey, melted raclette cheese on top. Just when I thought I couldn’t eat more, Chef Phillipe brings out the classic French soufflé: “It’s got a lot of flavor but you can put chocolate, vanilla or Gran Marnier in it, so many variations to consider “, said Phillipe.

Chef Phillipe is also a big fan of the Olympics. His father grew up watching the Olympics with him. ‘

He is proud that Paris will be the scene of such a large-scale global event which he believes will bring people together around the love and passion for sport.
