Irfan and his accomplices raped a class 11 student after befriending her on Instagram: Ajmer, R’than

A case of gang rape of a class 11 girl was reported in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district. The main accused Irfan had lured the girl into friendship through Instagram by using one of his friends as a trap. After that, the main accused and his accomplices raped her and threatened to release a video of the assault if she did not comply with their demands. They also forced her to give them Rs 500,000 and later demanded another Rs 100,000.

The police started the investigation after the girl’s father filed a complaint. He said his daughter befriended a girl at her tutoring center in October 2023. This friend encouraged her to connect with Irfan on Instagram. The girl initially blocked him, but her friend convinced her to unblock him. One day, the girl’s Instagram password was stolen and misused.

Irfan and his accomplices used obscene messages from her account to blackmail her into a physical relationship. They took inappropriate photos of her and used them to extort money, threatening to publish the photos. The girl ended up stealing money from her house to pay the accused. When Irfan came to collect the money, he also demanded sexual favors.

In March, Irfan demanded another Rs 10 lakh, which left the girl in a state of shock. When her family noticed that money was missing, they told them everything. Her father then contacted the police and reported that his daughter had been raped by five men.

So far, the police have arrested Irfan, his friend Arbaaz and one other person. Arvind Singh, officer in charge of Christian Ganj police station, said this is a serious case and more arrests may follow. They are still looking for the other accused involved in the matter. They are also investigating the girl who initially introduced the victim to Irfan. CO North Rudra Pratap Sharma mentioned that obscene photos were found on Irfan’s phone, which are being forensically examined.
