27 News spoke to neighbors in the area about what they may have heard or seen. One neighbor said this is not the first time police have been called to the home.

“I automatically assumed they were talking to the guy down the street because they’d had trouble with him before,” said Chris Mclean, a neighbor. “All of a sudden I heard ‘Pow, pow, pow’ and my first thought was the police just killed somebody.”

According to Janesville Police, no shots were fired by police. McLean also adds that the person who lived in that home had their own issues. He has a message for others who may be struggling with their own mental health.

“Get help. I don’t think you can do this alone,” Mclean said. “You’re going to need your friends, counseling and some help. Especially with something traumatic.”

Janesville Police were assisted by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office. The JPD SWAT team was also assisted by the Beloit/Bearcat and Dane County Bearcat SWAT teams.

JPD plans to provide additional information at a later date. The coroner’s office will release the identity of the deceased at a later date.
